Details
The festival started as a pubic meeting of local musicians, hotel owners, publicans and a mixture of interested music enthusiasts in 1992. Our first festival took place in 1993 and was headlined by Capercaillie.
With a strong background of successful ceilidh bands, Gaelic choirs, pipe Bands, Brass Bands and Modern & Highland dancers the festival committee complimented this by introducing international folk/traditional acts from all over the world. These include: Altan, Davy Spillane, Four men and a Dog, the Tannahill Weavers, Jerry Holland and Dave McIsaac, Dougie McLean, the Micahel McGoldrick Band, the Full Moon Ensemble, Arty McGlynn and Nollaig Cassidy and many more.
The Mull of Kintyre Music Festival has once again managed to secure Scottish and international acts to ensure festival goers are guaranteed a good time. In the face of the global economic crisis many festivals have either folded or postponed events this year. It is a testament to the organisers and the folk that support and attend concerts and other free events that the Mokfest (as it is now known) has stood the test of time and economic turbulence.
