23 Mayfield is on the main bus route into Edinburgh city centre. The guest house offers easy access to many places of interest such as Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh Castle, the Scottish Parliament and Princes Street, which are all within a one mile radius.
Rooms & Facilties
We endeavour to make our rooms as comfortable as possible. All rooms are of a good size, equipped with central heating, ensuite (some with baths), colour television, coffee table and armchairs, radio/alarms, hair driers and hospitality trays.
For overseas visitors the term twin means two single beds, and this type of room is suitable for 2 people. A double room means one standard size double bed, again suitable for 2 people. A single person occupying a double/twin room will incur a surcharge. The family rooms have 1 double bed (king-size) and 1-3 single beds, suitable for up to a total of 5 people.
Your own set of keys will ensure access at all times.
Four Poster Room
The furniture is all hand carved solid mahogany. The bed is a king size four poster with a panelled canpy. Guest enjoy an LCD 26inch TV with digital box intergrated Bose wave stereo (you can even wake up to your own favourite CD) - with a large collection of classical CDs on shelf with a selection of binding books.
All room lighting is on dimmer switches (controlled either from the door or at the bedside). All materials and fabrics are of a very high standard, featuring linen Egyptian cotton.

Edinburgh is rightly rewarded as one of the finest cities in the world. And no wonder, with its fascinating history, unique heritage, ancient buildings, dramatic scenery, countless attractions, lively nightlife, first rate shopping, not to mention the famous Scottish hospitality of its friendly population.
The city of Edinburgh is often voted by residents as `the best place to live in Britain`. Dramatic contours, long surviving buildings, breathtaking views, green hills, wide water and a manageable sized city centre have encouraged a truly cosmopolitan population that has produced a diverse cultural identity. The city is a thrilling place!
Culminating in August`s festival it offers year-round sophisticated entertainment in hundreds of small performance venues. Edinburgh Castle, King Arthur`s Seat and a labrynth of tunnels and dungeons provide similar excitement for history buffs whilst those simply looking for a place to shop in fine style will not be disappointed either.
One of the trendiest parts of town is Leith. There are many restaurants, bars and now the Ocean Tunnel where you can see the Royal Yacht Britannia.
