Inverness is a city in northern Scotland and it is promoted as the capital of the Highlands of Scotland. Loch Ness is a large, deep, freshwater loch best known for the alleged sightings of the legendary Loch Ness Monster, also known as "Nessie". It contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined, and is the largest body of water on the Great Glen Fault, which runs from Inverness in the north to Fort William in the south. Nairn an ancient fishing port and market town around 16 miles east of Inverness, is known as a world class golfing destination, with two 18 hole Championship golf courses. One of these, The Nairn Golf Club is one of the greatest traditional links courses in the world It has hosted many tournaments culminating in the 1999 Walker Cup and is visited by golfers from all over the world. |
