Inverness is a city in northern Scotland and it is promoted as the capital of the Highlands of Scotland. Inverness is Europe's fastest growing city and ranked fifth out of 189 British cities for its quality of life. It lies near the site of the eighteenth century Battle of Culloden. Loch Ness is a large, deep, freshwater loch best known for the alleged sightings of the legendary Loch Ness Monster, also known as "Nessie". It contains more fresh water than all the lakes in England and Wales combined, and is the largest body of water on the Great Glen Fault, which runs from Inverness in the north to Fort William in the south. Nairn an ancient fishing port and market town around 16 miles east of Inverness, is known as a world class golfing destination, with two 18 hole Championship golf courses. One of these, The Nairn Golf Club is one of the greatest traditional links courses in the world It has hosted many tournaments culminating in the 1999 Walker Cup and is visited by golfers from all over the world.

   

The Great Glen Way

The Great Glen way is 73 miles/117km in length. It runs from Fort William, in the west, to Inverness, in the east, with spectacular views and historical and natural heritage to be discovered all along the way.
